Obviously, this is the first post; I'm just setting things up and testing them out.
Why does this blog exist?
I'm starting this blog to document my time in Costa Rica, where I will be interning for a year at the Rahab Foundation (more info here). I'm going through Latin America Mission (more info for them click here) and I will be there for a full year. I will be working with victims of human trafficking and their families, helping in the restoration process after being broken in a way only God can truly fix.
Where am I in this process?
Support-Raising
I have been raising support since the beginning of July and have already raised 54% of the total needed for me to stay a year--praise the Lord! If you are interested in helping me get closer to that 100% mark, you can click on this link and it will take you to my personal LAM page and you can click the "Support this Missionary" button to get started--any help is greatly appreciated!!Packing
I have not even started, and I'd really not like to think about that right now.
Personally
I've had my good days where I'm super excited and pumped to go, and I've had my bad days where I'm so stressed I can't even think. Right now, we're on a streak of good days :) It is so exciting to think about how God is going to move this year and all the new ways I'm going to interact with and encounter Him. When I dwell on it too long, I get so excited I start to cry...I try to dwell in moderation.
The bad days come when I start to think about all the things that still need to happen (buying plane tickets, starting a blog, continuing raising support, juggling sending out new support letters, reminders, and thank-yous, and countless other tasks). It's also hard to remain super positive and pumped when your laptop decides it just doesn't want to turn on anymore and you need to start looking for a replacement :/
Although there are good and bad days, I know that I am following the path God has laid for me--and that always sets me back onto the path of good days. :)
Prayer Requests
- The rest of my support to be raised
- God will continue to prepare me to go
- A great deal on a laptop
- I can stay focused on what God is calling me to do and not be preoccupied with all the little details
Miscellaneous and Conclusion
Well, now that I have totally mastered the adding-a-link function and headings (and bullet points!), I think now is as good a time as ever to bring this first post to a close. Thank you for reading and if you have questions, comments, or random facts, please leave them in the comments section because I love hearing from people (it makes me feel like I'm actually writing to an audience and not just the endless void we call "the internet").Peace and Blessings,
Kiki
